Mission Statement

Black Lives Matter.

We are diversifyCUnow. We are a coalition of individuals and groups across the University of Colorado (CU) at all levels: undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral research associates, staff, faculty, and administration.

Our vision is that CU will be an actively antiracist institution. We recognize Ibram X. Kendi’s definitions of racism and antiracism and racist and antiracist in his book How to Be an Antiracist: “Racism is a powerful collection of racist policies that lead to racial inequity and are substantiated by racist ideas. Antiracism is a powerful collection of antiracist policies that lead to racial equity and are substantiated by antiracist ideas.” (p. 20)

“One either allows racial inequities to persevere – as a racist – or confronts racial inequities – as an antiracist. There is no in-between safe space of ‘not racist.’ The claim of ‘not racist’ neutrality is a mask for racism.” (p. 13)

Our mission is to support and amplify the voices and actions of Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students and BIPOC-led student, staff, and faculty groups across CU.

OUR DEMAND is that CU engage and pay all BIPOC-led student, staff and faculty groups in every planning meeting, conversation, document and implementation of antiracism efforts across CU, and include accountability checks at every step of the way.

diversifyCUnow Notice

diversifyCUnow only serves to amplify BIPOC voices on the CU campuses. It is primarily made up of non-BIPOC volunteers who wish to be allies to CU BIPOC organizations. Any actions we share are to amplify the voices of BIPOC leaders & organizations. Our transparency is important to avoid media misrepresentation and we ask of media to give credit to the BIPOC organizations when discussing our promotions and not to us.
